Child GPS Tracking System

Fun n Games Aside: Kids Safety Now and During Holidays

A Child GPS Tracking System? Really?

Is this really what it has come to? We are now having to track our children's whereabouts just to ensure their safety? Unfortunately, I guess, the answer is yes.

According to child abduction statistics, "800,000 children are reported missing every year (about 2 children every day)and about 260,000 children are abducted every year in the United States of America. Of these child abduction only about 115 result in very serious consequences, like injury or death." (www.ygoy.com/index.php/child-abduction-statistics/).

It's no wonder new tools are coming out now like the Amber Alert GPS tracking systems. From a cell phone you can call or text the device to track the child's location (virtual tracking).

I actually met a grandmother in a Kohl's department store a few weeks ago. We started chatting and got on the subject of smart phones. She began showing me the various applications on her phone and one of them was the Amber Alert GPS tracking.

When she opened the application, there were several flashing dots. She identified a particular dot as her 5 year old grandson -who was a few miles away. The address, that displayed for his location, she said, was her daughter's home. She went on to say that tracks all of her grandchildren because "you can never be too careful".

She also showed me that she is able to see the addresses of all registered sex offenders in the area.

Wow! It has really come to this. Parents are tracking their children.

Tracking devices are great guys. But let's be careful. The time of year is coming when people will be out shopping and socializing in busy crowded venues. For parents taking children into crowded areas can be problematic.

As we all know (me included) children can sometimes get away from us. We all hate it and feel horrible when It happens. It's a terrible thing, I know. But the fact is it happens and it has happened to the best of us.

Wow!
