Engagement Planning Tips

Make your Engagement Party a success

Engagement Planning Tips
Here are some practical engagement party planning ideas.

Engagements are special occasions and rightly so. It takes some of us quite a while to find that special someone, and we want everything to be perfect. Ask yourself some questions:

1. When is the party and where will it be? Select the date and location for the event: The party can be held at a best friend's home or apartment; a parent or god parent's home; a reserved room at a restaurant or hotel; a siblings home, etc.

2. What are you going to feed your guests? Decide the type of meal service: Will the meal be served buffet style? Will the meal be catered Bar-b-que? Or will you opt for a simple brunch-style affair? Perhaps you would rather have a simple cake and punch (or tea) party? It's really up to you and your budget.

3. Who should be invited? I would suggest only inviting the most intimate of friends and family members. There will be plenty of time to share with everyone else who will be on the wedding guest list. Keep it small and intimate.

4. Gift or no Gift? You may want to set up a small gift table in the corner of the room. Some people will bring gifts, even though they are not required for the engagement party.

5. Select elegant, no fuss, invitations and mail them out at least two weeks prior to the party.

6. Plan for one or two engagement party game or icebreakers.

7. Designate someone to be a host or hostess, if you won't have time. This person will be responsible for greeting guests and making sure things run smoothly--another reason to keep the number of invitees small.

Couldn't find it? Don't give up yet!
