Family is about the memories of loved ones no longer here.

The encouragement they gave us when no one seemed to care.

Grandma’s famous recipe or Grandpa’s smoking pipe.

The hugs that mama gave us to make everything alright.

The kisses from our uncle that left wet spots on our cheeks

And the love taps from our auntie, because of our mischief.

Most of all, what they taught us. The lessons we hold dear.

To trust God and always pray. To stand strong in the face of fear.

That same strength is in us all. In our blood it flows on.

Because of them we know courage. We know that we are strong.

So on this day we recognize them. Because of them we’re here.

We’re blessed to be together, for another Reunion year.
